English cricketers Adam Hose and Jamie Overton (player of the tournament in the Hundred) will take their spots in the middle order, which also features the dependable Jake Weatherald.
On the bowling front, Brendan Doggett, Henry Thornton, and Wes Agar form the backbone of their pace attack while veteran leg spinner Cameron Boyce pairs up with the offie Ben Manenti to take care of the spin department. They signed left-arm swing-bowling Englishman David Payne and all-rounder James Bazley from Brisbane Heat to give this attack an impetus and they’ll feature at some point in the tournament.

Sydney Thunder: After a disappointing opening night loss to form team Brisbane Heat, Sydney Thunder will want to bounce back with a win. It was not a devastating loss and there were a few positives: Tanveer Sangha picking up 3 wickets, captain Chris Green coming good with both bat and ball, new recruit Cameron Bancroft working his way into some form at the top, and Oliver Davies found himself amongst some runs.
Other than that, there was nothing remarkable. But they need to get their act together because they’ll be facing Strikers who made a mockery of them last time. Englishman Alex Hales is woefully out of form and needs to find a way to make runs and give his team a thunderous start at the top.
Another player who couldn’t catch a break at the moment is Daniel Sams. We all know what he is capable of achieving when he’s in full flow, but he’s having a tough time with bat and ball. Nathan Andrew bowled alright and kept things tight in the middle, but will hope he chips in with a few wickets to tighten things up. Young Pakistani pacer Zaman Khan did reasonably well in the first game picking up 2 wickets for 31 runs in his allocated overs, and is looking good to make this role his very own for the rest of the matches.
