Sydney Sixers vs Brisbane Heat Match Pitch Report

Sydney Cricket Ground is often considered a good batting ground and high scores are made on this ground it is good for the batsmen under lights at night but spin bowlers also get some help from the pitch. The team batting first gets the advantage in the night.

What to expect:

Team news:

Sydney Sixers: The Sixers may not have ended their league stage holding the pole position, but they’re clearly on a roll having won four games on the bounce. A harrowing defeat in the hands of Brisbane Heat at home in the Challenger final last year, which knocked them out of the competition, will definitely be on the back of the mind of the Sixers’ players. But the Sydney Sixers players have the home advantage again and will make sure they don’t make a hash of it this time around.

Sydney Sixers Key Players

  • Daniel Hughes – After hitting four fours and one six in the last head-to-head, there can be no doubt that the experienced left-hander will be key in this game.
  • Moises Henriques – The skipper showed all of his experience by top scoring for his team in the Qualifier with 59 runs from 50 balls.
  • Sean Abbott – The bowling all-rounder made a six-ball duck and did not take any wickets on Monday. However, his overall BBL record is brilliant and he will relish this final.
  • Ben Dwarshuis – The fast-medium bowler took the Player of the Match Award the last time these sides met and he has been brilliant across the competition.

Probable XI: Daniel Hughes, Jack Edwards, Josh Philippe(w), Moises Henriques, Jordan Silk, Joel Davies, Hayden Kerr, Sean Abbott, Ben Dwarshuis(c), Todd Murphy, Steve OKeefe

Sydney Sixers Squad: Daniel Hughes, Jack Edwards, Josh Philippe(w), Moises Henriques, Jordan Silk, Joel Davies, Hayden Kerr, Sean Abbott, Ben Dwarshuis(c), Todd Murphy, Steve OKeefe, Jackson Bird, Izharulhaq Naveed, Kurtis Patterson, Mitchell Perry

Brisbane Heat: They did get the better of the Strikers at the Carrara Oval on a difficult strip where almost all the batsmen from both sides found life extremely difficult, except big-hitting Josh Brown who bludgeoned 22 boundaries on his way to scoring a whopping 140 from 57 deliveries- the highest individual score in a final in BBL history. Captain Nathan McSweeney played second fiddle, scoring 30-odd runs to set up an important opening partnership and give a base for the batsmen to launch from. The incoming batsman, however, ended up throwing away their wickets cheaply without adding too many runs to the total. But 214 on that strip was always going to be a stiff task for the Strikers who really heavily on their top 3, and once they lost them their chase lost steam.

Brisbane Heat Key Players

  • Josh Brown – The Brisbane Heat opener produced one of the all-time great BBL innings when he hit 10 fours and 12 sixes on Monday evening.
  • Jimmy Peirson – The keeper-batter dropped down the batting order against Adelaide Strikers due to the reshuffle caused by bowling one less spinner. However, we expect him back at the top for this final.
  • Spencer Johnson – After Brown’s heroics with the bat, it was the left-arm fast bowler who did the business with the ball as he dismissed all top three of Adelaide Strikers’ batters.
  • Xavier Bartlett – The right-arm fast-medium bowler is yet to go wicketless in this year’s tournament and he will be looking to maintain that record in this clash.

Probable XI: Josh Brown, Jimmy Peirson(w), Nathan McSweeney(c), Matt Renshaw, Max Bryant, Paul Walter, Michael Neser, Xavier Bartlett, Spencer Johnson, Mitchell Swepson, Matthew Kuhnemann

Brisbane Heat Squad: Josh Brown, Jimmy Peirson(w), Nathan McSweeney(c), Matt Renshaw, Max Bryant, Paul Walter, Michael Neser, Xavier Bartlett, Spencer Johnson, Mitchell Swepson, Matthew Kuhnemann, Jordan Buckingham, Charlie Wakim, Jack Wildermuth, Lachlan Hearne, Hugo Burdon

Sydney Sixers vs Brisbane Heat Match Prediction

Once again, this has been a fantastic BBL edition and the reduced length of the group stage has led to more urgency earlier in the tournament. Both of these sides will turn up at the final believing they can lift the trophy and if Josh Brown gets going again then it will make the task all the harder for Brisbane Heat. They also have strong bowlers with Spencer Johnson and Xavier Bartlett in fine form. However, Sydney Sixers have been an excellent BBL side over the last five years and they also have their own key performers playing very well. Our prediction is for a close game with Sydney Sixers getting the win.

We expect the Sydney Sixers to win this match.

Sydney Sixers vs Brisbane Heat Match Both Team Top Batsmen

For Sydney Sixers, Daniel Hughes, Moises Henriques, and Josh Philippe are our betting picks. Philippe has hit 17 T20 half-centuries with a top score of 99 not out and the keeper-batter will be determined to produce the goods in this match. Captain Henriques is a powerful player and has scored 25 half-centuries in T20 cricket and scores his runs at a strike rate of 127.79.

Josh Brown, Jimmy Peirson, and Nathan McSweeney are our batting recommendations for the Brisbane Heat. Captain McSweeney was the only other batter, as well as Brown, to make double figures for Brisbane Heat in their win over Adelaide Strikers. Brown’s innings were delivered with a strike rate of 245.61 against Adelaide Strikers and he has not made a single-figure score all tournament.

Sydney Sixers vs Brisbane Heat Match Both Team Top Team Bowlers

Sean Abbott, Ben Dwarshuis, and Jack Edwards are our choices with the ball for Sydney Sixers. Right-arm medium pacer Edwards bowled a maiden and took 2/26 in the last clash with Brisbane Heat and took the wicket of Nathan McSweeney. Dwarshuis has already taken one more wicket than in last season’s BBL and he is likely to get plenty of support from the crowd in Sydney.

With the ball, Spencer Johnson, Xavier Bartlett, and Matthew Kuhnemann are our tips for the Brisbane Heat. Spinner Kuhnemann took another wicket in Monday’s victory and he will enjoy bowling at the SCG. He went wicketless against the Sixers in the previous head-to-head but the pitch will be much more receptive in this match. Johnson has taken 15 wickets in this campaign.
