Punjab Kings Squad 2023 – The Punjab Kings (PBKS) is a franchise cricket team based in Mohali, Punjab that competes in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Formed in 2008 as Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), the franchise is jointly owned by Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia, Preity Zinta, and Karan Paul.
The team plays its home matches at the PCA Stadium in Mohali. They have also played home games in Dharamsala or Indore since 2010. Apart from the 2014 season where they finished first and second in the league, the team has only made the playoffs once in 13 seasons.
The name of the team was changed to Punjab Kings in February 2021. In a mini-auction held on December 23, 2022, the Punjab Kings bought Sam Curran for a whopping Rs 18.5 crore, setting the highest bid for a player in IPL history.
The team representing Punjab was bought by Mohit Burman (46%), of Wadia Group, Ness Wadia (23%), Preity Zinta (23%), and Saptarshi Dey of Dey & Dey Group (minor stake).
The group paid a total of $76 million for the franchise.
