Trent Rockets vs Southern Brave Match Pitch Report

It’s a balanced track. The new-ball bowlers may get some lateral movement off the surface, which becomes good for batting as the game progresses. Expect an intense battle between bat and ball, especially early on.

What to expect:

Team news:

Trent Rockets: The Trent Rockets had an excellent campaign in the last season where they finished at the top of the points table and earned a direct entry to the Finals. There, they defeated the Manchester Originals in a close encounter to lift their first Hundred title.

Being led by Lewis Gregory, the Trent Rockets will be hoping to put up a similar performance this season too. Gregory led the Somerset team to its 2nd T20 Blast title earlier this year and is himself in good form. He has a star-studded batting line-up at his disposal, consisting of batsmen like Alex Hales, Colin Munro, Joe Root, and Dawid Malan.

The two wicketkeepers on the squad, Tom Moores and Tom Kohler-Cadmore are also known for their clean hitting skills.  Rashid Khan will be the key spinner for the team and will be supported by Ish Sodhi and Samit Patel, while Luke Wood, Daniel Sams, Brad Wheal, and Sam Cook will be seen in the pace department.

Trent Rockets Key Players

  • Dawid Malan – The left-handed all-format batter had a strong T20 Blast tournament for Yorkshire Vikings earlier this year and is a brilliant pacer of his innings.
  • Tom Kohler-Cadmore – The keeper-batter has added plenty of overseas experience in this format over recent years. His top score in short-format cricket is 127.
  • Sam Cook – The right-arm fast-medium bowler will be looking forward to bowling with cloudy overhead conditions. He gets a swing in most games he plays.

Probable XI: Alex Hales, Colin Munro, Dawid Malan, Tom Kohler-Cadmore(w), Sam Hain, Lewis Gregory(c), Rashid Khan, Samit Patel, Daniel Sams, Luke Wood, Brad Wheal

Trent Rockets Squad: Dawid Malan, Alex Hales, Joe Root, Tom Kohler-Cadmore(w), Colin Munro, Sam Hain, Lewis Gregory(c), Rashid Khan, Samit Patel, Daniel Sams, Luke Wood, Brad Wheal, Matthew Carter, Tom Moores, Sam Cook, John Turner

Southern Brave: The Southern Brave, who were the Champions in the inaugural season, had a disappointing outing the last time around, as they managed to win just 3 of the 8 group-stage matches. They finished at a disappointing 7th on the table and will be looking to turn things around.

The team will be led by swashbuckling England batsman James Vince. The Southern Brave has some talented batsmen up the order, including Devon Conway, Finn Allen, and Alex Davies. Tim David, who usually comes lower down the order, has showcased his talent in the recent seasons of the IPL and the MLC and will play a vital role here.

Where the Southern Brave is a bit lacking is in the all-rounders and the spin attack. Mitchell Santner and James Fuller are the only two experienced all-rounders on the squad but they lack consistency, especially with the bat. Santner is also the most experienced spinner on the team and will look for support from youngsters Rehan Ahmed and Jafer Chohan.

The pace attack on the other hand is quite strong. It is an all-English line-up with Jofra Archer, Chris Jordan, Craig Overton, Tymall Mills, and Matthew Fisher peddling their skills.

Southern Brave Key Players

  • James Vince – The 32-year-old England international has an excellent record in T20 cricket and in the Hundred. He will be the big wicket that Trent Rockets will want to get early.
  • Devon Conway – The New Zealand keeper-batter continues to rack up big scores irrespective of the format or the country of the competition.
  • Tymal Mills – The left-arm pace bowler is one of England’s best short-format bowlers. He has been unfortunate with injuries but looks fully fit ahead of this fixture.

Probable XI: Finn Allen, Devon Conway (w), James Vince (c), Leus du Plooy, Alex Davies, Tim David, Rehan Ahmed, Chris Jordan, George Garton, Jofra Archer, Tymal Mills

Southern Brave Squad: James Vince(c), Devon Conway, Finn Allen, Alex Davies(w), Leus du Plooy, Rehan Ahmed, Tim David, George Garton, Chris Jordan, Craig Overton, Tymal Mills, James Fuller, Matthew Fisher, Joe Weatherley, Jofra Archer

The Men’s Hundred is a very exciting tournament and the players on both sides will be looking forward to this contest. It promises to be an interesting game on a strong batting surface but with overhead conditions which should favor the bowlers. Our prediction is for a close match but with Southern Brave getting the win.

We expect Southern Brave to win this match.

Trent Rockets vs Southern Brave Match Both Team Top Batsmen

Sam Hain, Dawid Malan, and Colin Munro are our picks with the bat for Trent Rockets. Hain has been in brilliant form across all formats in 2023 and there are plenty of pundits suggesting an England call-up is around the corner. Munro has hit over 9800 short-format runs in his career.

Our batting tips are James Vince, Devon Conway, and Tim David for Southern Brave. Vince has captained Southern Brave in both the previous seasons and he leads from the front at the top of the order. David is a very attacking batter who plays the role of ‘finisher’ in the side.

Trent Rockets vs Southern Brave Match Both Team Top Team Bowlers

With the ball, Lewis Gregory, Sam Cook, and Luke Wood are our choices for Trent Rockets. Wood has had another excellent season in the T20 Blast with Lancashire Lightning and he is a strike bowler in short-format cricket. Gregory will get movement through the air in this game.

We are backing Chris Jordan, Craig Overton, and Tymal Mills with the ball for Southern Brave. Overton has an excellent short-format record at the domestic level in England. Jordan performed in the IPL this year and has some excellent variations.
