England: England have done well to put the disappointment of an early exit at the 2023 Cricket World Cup and ODI series defeat to the West Indies behind them with consecutive wins in this T20I series. But the job is not complete yet, with a high-pressure decider awaiting them in Tarouba.
Salt has been immense recently. He struck 109 not out in St George’s and, a few days later, 119 in Tarouba. A batter hitting back-to-back centuries in T20I cricket is, indeed, rare. Despite his success, he has not picked up an IPL deal. Here’s another chance for him to secure one belatedly.
Salt has scored almost double the number of runs than any other England batter this series. Support from Buttler, Liam Livingstone, and Harry Brook has been forthcoming but will be a particular need if the tourists are to complete a series win this week.
The wrist spin has been instrumental for England in the Caribbean. Adil Rashid and Rehan Ahmed are their top wicket-takers in this series with six and five, respectively. Both have benefitted from dry conditions, which have afforded extra bounce and some additional turn.
