London Spirit Squad 2023 – The Hundred is a professional franchise 100-ball cricket tournament comprising eight boys’ teams and eight girls’ teams based in major cities in England and Wales. The tournament is organized by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and will take place for the first time in July and August 2021.
London Spirit is a licensed 100-ball cricket team based in North London. The team represented the historic counties of Middlesex, Essex, and Northampton at The Hundred, which will be held for the first time in the 2021 England and Wales cricket season. Both men’s and women’s teams play at home.
The announcement of a new eight-team men’s and women’s tournament for 2019 was not without controversy, with Virat Kohli amongst others criticizing the England and Wales Cricket Board for trying to move away from Kev Competitive Cricket, while others argue that the format, established and successful Twenty20 format should follow.
However, the ECB decided to require a more specific format to attract more people. In August 2019, the team became the first head coach of former Australian spinner Shane Warne’s men’s team, while former Australian women’s coach Lisa Keightley was appointed leader of the women’s group.
