Southern Brave Squad 2023 – The Hundred is a professional franchise 100-ball cricket tournament comprising eight boys’ teams and eight girls’ teams based in major cities in England and Wales. The tournament is organized by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and will take place for the first time in July and August 2021.
Southern Brave is a 100-ball cricket team based in Southampton. The team represents historic Hampshire and Sussex counties at the newly formed The Hundred, which will make its debut in the 2021 England and Wales cricket season. Both the men’s and women’s teams play in the Rose Bowl in Hampshire.
The announcement of a new eight-team men’s and women’s tournament for 2019 was not without controversy, with Virat Kohli amongst others criticizing the England and Wales Cricket Board for trying to move away from Kev Competitive Cricket, others claiming the format, established and Complete Twenty20 must conform to the format.
However, the ECB decided to require a more specific format to attract more people. In August 2019, the team announced that former Sri Lankan batsman and 2019 IPL champion Mahela Jayawardene will be the first head coach of the men’s team, with former England women’s Manager Charlotte Edwards being appointed as women’s head coach.
The top 100 draft submissions took place in October 2019, when the Braves announced Jofra Archer as their male Player and Anya Shrubsole as their female Player. British national players James Vince and Chris Jordan in men and Danielle Wyatt in women.
